Dear Tom,
I'm glad to receive your letter and your interest in our traditional festival - Mid-Autumn Festival. Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the most important festivals in China. It falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, which usually occurs in September or October.
The origin of Mid-Autumn Festival can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty. It was a time for families to gather together to appreciate the full moon and enjoy mooncakes. Mooncakes, with various fillings such as lotus seed paste and egg yolk, are the symbol of reunion and good wishes.
On the day of Mid-Autumn Festival, families will have a big feast and eat mooncakes. Children will also play with lanterns and enjoy the beautiful full moon. In some regions, people will hold dragon and lion dances or perform traditional Chinese opera.
