As a volunteer, I have participated in various voluntary activities. One of my most unforgettable experiences was when I joined a charity organization to help the elderly in my community.
At the beginning, I was a little nervous because I had never done any volunteer work before. However, as I started to interact with the elderly, I found that they were very friendly and kind-hearted. We played games together, chatted about their past experiences, and listened to their stories. I realized that they were not only in need of physical support, but also in need of emotional support.
During my volunteering, I also encountered some obstacles. For example, some elderly people were not willing to accept our help. They thought that they could manage on their own and didn’t want to be a burden to others. However, we persisted and tried to persuade them to accept our help. In the end, they finally realized that we were there to help them and started to open up to us.
Through this experience, I have learned that volunteering is not just about providing assistance, but also about building relationships. It’s about showing care and concern for others, and making a positive impact in their lives.
