In my English class, we often have writing assignments. I enjoy writing essays because it allows me to express my thoughts and ideas in English. Today, I want to share with you a special essay that I wrote about the National Day holiday in China, also known as the "Golden Week."
During the National Day holiday, people all over China celebrate the founding of our country. It is a time for families to come together and enjoy a week-long break from work and school. The streets are decorated with colorful flags and banners, creating a festive atmosphere. People travel to different parts of the country to explore its rich culture and history.
On the first day of the holiday, my family and I woke up early to watch the flag-raising ceremony on TV. It was a spectacular sight to see the national flag flying high in the sky. After that, we went to a local park where a cultural fair was held. There were traditional performances, such as lion dances and folk music, which showcased the diversity of our country's traditions.
During the holiday, my parents took me to visit some famous landmarks in our city. We went to the Great Wall, which is a symbol of China's ancient civilization. It was amazing to walk on the ancient stones and imagine the history that took place there. We also visited the Forbidden City, where the emperors of ancient China used to live. The intricate architecture and beautiful gardens left me in awe.
In addition to sightseeing, we also enjoyed delicious food during the holiday. We tried different regional cuisines, such as Peking duck and Sichuan hotpot. It was a great opportunity to taste the flavors of our diverse culture.
As the National Day holiday came to an end, I felt grateful for the time spent with my family and the opportunity to learn more about our country's history and culture. It was a memorable experience, and I look forward to celebrating the National Day holiday again next year.
