英语单词:diction和vocabulary有什么区别?

diction:发音法; 措词,用词; 文辞; 措辞。强调词汇的语音构成。

例如:Clear diction is very important. 吐字清楚非常重要。

His diction wasn't very good. 他以前口齿不清。

diction「dictionnary」

vocabulary:(某一语言/某一领域的)词汇; (尤指外语教科书中附有释义的)词汇表。强调词汇的词素属性等。

例如:We read to improve our vocabularies. 我们通过阅读来增加词汇量。

The vocabulary of natural science is complicated to learn for a green-hand. 对新手来讲,自然科学词汇学起来有点复杂。

异同分析:

二者diction更强调词汇语音,而vocabulary更强调词汇本身,通常区分使用,但极少数情况会通用,即避免重复使用单一词汇时,例如:His diction/vocabulary is noted for its freshness and vividness. 他以用字遣词清新生动见长。

像汉语的“的”“地”“得”一样,十分讲究语法规范的场合,这三个字各有原则、不能通用,但一些文字较为随意的场合或文字要求不高的人笔下,这三个通用是一个道理,diction和vocabulary实际没有交集,但上述极特殊情况可以通用。
