二、用法不同

1、respectable：通常在句子中用作宾语或定语，用来表示人格高尚、体面。

例句：He came from a perfectly respectable middle-class family.

2、respective：通常在句子中作定语，用来表示分别、各自。

这个字是由上面介绍的 respect 来的喔，英文中把动词字尾加上 -ed 除了表示被动的意思以外，还可以当作「形容词」，像这里看到 respect 加上 -ed 字尾，是说「被尊敬的」，也就是指「受尊重的、受敬重的」。

字尾 -able 表示「有...能力的」，所以我们把这个字尾加在 respect 后面就形成了「可以尊敬的、值得尊敬的」，这个字如果变成副词的话，注意 respectably 有把 e 去掉再加上 ly 喔，意思是「可敬地、高尚地」。

disrespect（名词 / 动词）不敬、无礼、轻蔑

字首 dis- 常常有表示「相反、否定的」意思，例如 like「喜欢」，加上字首变成 dislike 就是「不喜欢」，这里也是同样的道理喔！

例句：As Meryl Streep once said, “Disrespect invites disrespect.”

respective（形容词）分别的、各自的

这个字里面虽然有 respect，但是意思却跟「尊重」一点关系都没有喔！它是用来指「分别的」，副词就是 respectively「分别地、各自地」。

respecting（介系词）关于、在...方面

这个字一样跟「尊敬」八竿子打不著喔，可别被它外表骗了，这个字的意思是「关于」，意思相近于 about，不过这个字已经是比较旧的用法罗，现在比较常用 with respect to 或是 in respect of。

例句：In respect of civil rights, all citizens of this country are equal under the law.
