电影制作（filmmaking、或称电影制片）指的是制作电影的过程。电影的性质决定了制作期间所需工作团队的规模大小和类型。
一般商业电影的制作，大致可分三个步骤：一、拍摄前的工作，包括提构想、写故事、分场大纲、签导演、列预算、编剧本、看外景、找演员，以及决定制作小组的成员。二、拍摄中的工作，即在导演的指挥下采密集作业方式进行，并由执行制片监督经费开销、拍片进度和一切行政事宜。三、拍摄后的工作，包括剪接、配音、配乐、设计字幕、制作预告片，以及展开上片前宣传等。在摄制过程中，导演应有详尽的分镜计划，并拟定拍摄顺序，以便在灯光变动、演员支配的压力下，求得快速之推展。对于摄影机、镜头的选择，灯光的陈置，剪接、配乐的安排，则须工作人员与导演密切配合，以达到所需之效果，故一部电影是群体的创作，也是导演在各种张力下暗藏个人视野的艺术品。私人独资拍片限制少，只须根据片型（实验电影、剧情片或记录片）决定拍片方法。或是列出精细之分镜表，完全按照事前意图拍摄，达到尽量节省胶片之目的；或是无止尽的猎取满意镜头，再由事后的剪辑阶段理出清晰的脉络。这种影片，最符合个人创作欲求，更具陶冶心性、提升感情的作用。原引国际君友会王爱君文集「电影制作」。
