草莓为什么叫「草莓」？不叫「红莓」？

莓：名 [植] 某些果实很小、聚生在球形花托上的植物。

浆果：由子房或联合其他花器发育成柔软多汁的肉质果。

berry：n.浆果；莓。

所以说，“莓”是一类水果通用的字眼，翻译成英文，基本可以与berry对应。

而浆果——我们所吃的葡萄、番茄、猕猴桃之类，都可以算浆果，从植物学角度来说，是比“莓”更大的一个概念。包含但不仅限于莓类。。。

中国原产的莓类并不多，而且早期也并不以“莓”称呼，譬如raspberry，称悬钩子。蓝莓又称越橘。我私心地判断，“莓”最初带有一种细小低贱的意味在里面，譬如蛇莓。黑莓和草莓发迹晚，基本是国外引入的成为主流。
