determine 的用法
首先你分辨的是对的。一个表动作，一个强调状态。例如He determined never to come back. 是个主语（he）+谓语动词（determined）的句子；而He was determined never to come back.是个主语+系动词（was）+表语（determined）的句子。
但你现在呈现的句子，谓语是前面的left， determined当然不是动作，是伴随状语，表状态。
