The implied meaning of the pie charts is both disappointing and exciting. On the one hand, much necessary work still needs to be done with respect to environmental protection. The public ignorance of relevant environmental protection results from inadequate and limited popularity of environmental protection knowledge by relevant government departments at different levels. Since environmental protection is an international issue, we must constantly introduce the advanced and practical practice in other countries to our general public. Only in this way can we promote environmental protection in China. On the other hand, the enhancement of the public awareness of environmental protection is a welcome development. Over the past years, as people’s living standard improves, people attach more importance to the quality of their life. They have a better understanding of the relationship between environment and their daily life. As a result, they are more interested in following positive international models. In my view, necessary measures should be immediately taken to ensure a nice environment. It is about 20.5 light years from our earth. They estimated the planet's average temperature at between 0 and 40 degrees Centigrade. It is orbiting the red dwarf star, Gliese 581.

Most important of all, it’s an earth-like planet. There might be mountin, sea and liquid water.

China born and China bred, I love China very much. I’m proud that I have got the beautiful yellow skin, black eyes and black hair. I’m also proud that I speak the most beautiful language in the world——Chinese. When I heard that China, our motherland, would have a chance to hold the 2008 Olympic Games, I felt very happy and excited, and I hoped I could do something useful to build China into a beautiful and energetic country.

In the 21st century, the environment is becoming more and more important, so we have "Green Olympic" as a slogan. Of course a slogan is just a goal. The most important thing is that we should do some things to make it true. Such as sorting the trash, saving the energy and so on. We are still students now, so we can't do anything really big, but if everybody does something good for our environment, we could make our motherland more beautiful.

In fact, the things we can do are easy. Like not littering used batteries everywhere, sorting the trash that we want to throw away, and also protecting the animals and plants around us.

Luckily, I had a chance to take part in an activity, that is, we planted 5 trees everybody in our campus. My clas**ates and I worked very hard. This activity is not only about planting trees, but also contributing to our environment. Look at the trees, I believe, tomorrow there will be more trees and flowers standing in our campus and giving Chinese people a beautiful environment.

We are all Chinese people, living on the earth. We have only one motherland——China, just like we have only one earth. If we don't beautify our environment, who will? Good environment depends on good human consciousness. We should say that protecting our surroundings is not easy, that's why I'm standing here to summon people do it.

He saw a beautiful girl about his age and he knewit was love at first sight. He opened the door and walked in，not looking atanything else but her. He walked closer and closer until he was finally at thefront desk where she sat.

He went home and from then on，he went to that store every day and bought aCD，and she wrapped it for him. He took the CD home and put it in his closet. Hewas still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn’t. Hi**other found out about this and told him to just ask her. So the next day，hetook all his courage and went to the store as usual. He bought a CD like he didevery day and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with itwrapped. He took it and when she wasn’t looking，he left his phone number on thedesk and ran out...

I believe in the 50—percent theory. Half the time things are better thannormal；the other half，they are worse. I believe life is a pendulum swing. Ittakes time and experience to understand what normal is，and that gives me theperspective to deal with the surprises of the future.

Lets benchmark the parameters：Yes，I will die. Ive dealt with the deathsof both parents，a best friend，a beloved boss and cherished pets. Some of thesedeaths have been violent，before my eyes，or slow and agonizing. Bad stuff，andit belongs at the bottom of the scale.

Then there are those high points：romance and marriage to the right person；having a child and doing those Dad things like coaching my sons baseball team，paddling around the creek in the boat while hes swimming with the dogs，discovering his compassion so deep it manifests even in his kindness to snails，his imagination so vivid he builds a spaceship from a scattered pile ofLegos.

But there is a vast meadow of life in the middle，where the bad and thegood flip—flop acrobatically. This is what convinces me to believe in the50—percent theory.

One spring I planted corn too early in a bottomland so flood—prone thatneighbors laughed. I felt chagrined at the wasted effort. Summer turned brutal—— the worst heat wave and drought in my lifetime. The air—conditioner died，thewell went dry，the marriage ended，the job lost，the money gone. I was livinglyrics from a country tune —— music I loathed. Only a surging Kansas City Royalsteam，bound for their first World Series，buoyed my spirits.

Looking back on that horrible summer，I soon understood that all succeedinggood things merely offset the bad. Worse than normal wouldnt last long. I amowed and savor the halcyon times. They reinvigorate me for the next nastysurprise and offer assurance that I can thrive. The 50 percent theory even help**e see hope beyond my Royals recent slump，a field of struggling rookies sown sothat some year soon we can reap an October harvest.

Oh，yeah，the corn crop？For that one blistering summer，the groundmoisture was just right，planting early allowed pollination before heat witheredthe tops，and the lack of rain spared the standing corn from floods. That wintermy crib overflowed with corn —— fat，healthy three—to—a—stalk ears filled withkernels from heel to tip —— while my neighbors fields yielded only brown，emptyhusks.

Although plantings past may have fallen below the 50—percent expectation，and they probably will again in the future，I am still sustained by the cropthat flourishes during the drought.
