英语词语辨析

1. D. evaluation the project is correct. evaluation means to carry out some sort of study or ****ysis about whether something is good or not. So exactly what this question is asking for.

A, weighed. I guess it is used if you need to make a choice between some options. So you "weigh" them and CHOOSE the best one.

C. estimated. I guess it is similar to measure. In other words, you need something which CAN be measured or estimated, e.g. a number or a percentage, in order to use the words measure or estimate. In this question, "usefulness" "feasibility" are not something which can be measured or estimated.

2. "Various" means there are different TYPES of reasons,e.g. the reasons could be from all sorts of sources, maybe due to unwell health, family reason, mental pressure, lack of time and so on. While "different" only means the reasons are not the same. It is more appropriate to use various because this sentence is clear that 他确实是因为 "来自多方面的"原因而没能按时完成, 而不仅仅是因为有”不同的"原因而没能按时完成。

3 "Passion" is more to the EMOTION, FEELING very strongly about something. But "enthusia**" is more intense, and is NOT just about emotions, "enthusia**" can mean ENJOYMENT, INTEREST, or approval. e.g. you can have a "passion" for singing, does not mean you can sing really well, it just means you like doing it. Whereas if you are "enthusiastic" about singing, it probably true to assume that you enjoying doing it and are pretty good at it. Also, my personal feeling is, "enthusia**" tend to last longer than "passion".

4.Not very sure on this one....

I guess Order is 命令, seems to be more clear, objective and obvious, e.g. if you have been given an order, you need to do EXACTLY what the order asks you to do. But Directive 含有方向的and指导的意思, so if someone has given you "directives", it probably means that you are given some guidance as to where your goals should be, and what is the best way to achieve that goal, however, you may not have to strictly follow the directions. I feel "directives" are more GOAL-oriented whereas "Orders" stress more on the STEPS to follow.
