至于楼主所说的，你的例句里面，并不是determine for， for是由于the date才有的， the date for...运动会的日期，这个才是一个部分。这里只是determine sth.,直接用determine接名词了。

determine on可以这样造句：They determined on an early start. 他们决定采纳早些出发。
