“家暴”并不是“home violence”

一说到“家暴”，很多人可能会直接按照字面翻译。虽然暴力是“violence”，但“家暴”并不是“home violence”哦！

实际上，“家暴”的英文是：domestic violence。

家暴可以被称作：Domestic violence/domestic abuse/family violence。三种表达皆可使用。

它是指一个人在家庭环境中（例如在婚姻marriage或同居cohabitation中）针对另一人的暴力或其他虐待。

所以：家暴并不仅仅限制在婚姻里面。

如果是未婚同居（cohabitation）中发生的暴力行为，也可能划在“家暴”范畴，就比如说宇芽的事件。

substance abuse的意思是物质滥用，滥用药物，滥用物质，滥用毒品，药物滥用。
